"Wolfe Lane Bar"

"IN ITS PREVIOUS LIFE as the store room for Shearers Menswear, this out-of-the-way inner city den was filled with rows of suits. Head there on a Friday night and you'll find that's about the only thing that hasn't changed.
These days, however, the suits are not on racks but on the backs of thirsty young business folk looking for a choice yet chilled place to unwind.
Owners Jade and Julie Brereton have carefully pared back and opulently decked out the former warehouse to create a stylish, minimalist split-level room that manages to be both hip and informal. As well as the weeknight suits, punters sporting cool jeans and a cap (Armani, not VB please) will be made to feel just as welcome as a gaggle of ladies in sequinned mini-dresses from the boutique across the laneway.
Discreetly tucked down Wolf Lane off Murray Street, there's no need to huff and puff to get in - a shiny door silently slides open revealing a space that retains many of the original features, including matte floorboards and huge windows. But the room has gained a big black glossy bar, loads of contemporary leather furniture and artwork and a snazzy concrete-floored VIP or members' area alongside the DJ decks.
Julie says they have styled it to be something of a "late night lounge bar" for the more mature crowd. And Wolfe Lane prides itself on top-quality spirits, all reasonably priced.
A bit of a Wolfe in sheep's clothing, the bar fills up on Saturday nights with hot young things, while the mid-week crowd "will sit with a nice charcuterie plate and a bottle of red"."
